Helpdesk Support Technician

Summary

Perform IT support and troubleshooting by directly interacting with end users to increase productivity and quality while reducing errors. Has good knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the IT industry. This position works under direct supervision and pre-established guidelines to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.

This position is located in Seattle, Washington and will support Bassetti Architects, a design studio of HMC Architects.

Position Responsibilities

  • Receives, evaluates, and prioritizes incoming telephone, voicemail, e-mail and in-person requests for assistance from users experiencing problems with hardware, software, networking, and other computer-related technologies
  • Performs the setup of networked PCs as well as networking devices
  • May perform the installation of hardware/software, configuration and testing of networking applications
  • Troubleshoots PC, laptop and miscellaneous device performance issues
  • General understanding of PC hardware and core competency in IT applications in an architectural environment
  • Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment
  • Creates end user instruction documentation
  • Provides technical support and guidance to users
  • Enforces overall IT department policies and procedures
  • Supports overall use and methodology guidelines for technology
  • Assists in the support and configuration of network printers and peripherals
  • Gathers information on user needs and recommends future purchases
  • Assists in the creation of the general technology roadmap for peripheral devices and system upgrades
  • Oversees mobile technology and monitors network device uptime
  • Assist with plotting support and oversight
  • Assists in system support for video conferencing equipment
  • Gathers information on user needs and recommends future purchases
  • Review files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity
  • Maintain software and hardware inventory, which includes reviewing and evaluating new/upgraded products
  • Responds constructively to suggestions and feedback received from others
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent to a two-year college or technical school
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Microsoft Server and Windows environment
  • Able to respond promptly to end user needs, solicits end user feedback to improve applications and responds to requests for service and assistance
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive/negative situations, listens and gets clarification, responds well to questions, demonstrates rudimentary presentation skills and effectively participates in meetings
  • Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively, able to read and interpret written data
  • Ability to establish productive working relationships and to deal smoothly, effectively, and cooperatively with people at all levels
  • Adheres to HMC’s Policies and Procedures in the production of work
  • Keep co-workers informed of IT application changes, configurations and issues
  • Encourages others to achieve quality results through application excellence
  • Understands and acts on the needs of end users to increase competency in application use

The salary range for this position is $19.29 to $26.31

The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate’s qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
