Job Summary

We’re looking for a skilled Job Captain to support the delivery of high-quality architectural projects across all phases. This position requires strong technical abilities—especially in Revit—and the ability to maintain project momentum, accuracy, and coordination. The Job Captain also collaborates closely with the Project Manager on schedules, progress tracking, and quality control. Licensure is a bonus but not required.

The position is located in Los Angeles, California. This position is eligible for hybrid (office/remote) working arrangement and flexible working hours; requires 3 days in the office and the ability to work from home Mondays and Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and organize drawing sets for SD, DD, and CD phases
  • Coordinate with consultants and internal team members to resolve design and documentation issues
  • Prepare plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings
  • Assist with code research, agency coordination, and permitting requirements
  • Support Project Manager with schedules, progress tracking, and work plan updates
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and assist with documentation for changes
  • Maintain design intent throughout all project phases
  • Prepare project correspondence including meeting minutes, change documentation, and agency forms
  • Assist with proposal preparation and additional service agreements
  • Estimate task hours and complete work within established budgets
  • Manage small projects or portions of larger projects with oversight
  • Provide guidance to junior staff as needed
  • Participate in design discussions and team charrettes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Architectural degree from an accredited university or equivalent proficiency
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience producing and coordinating architectural documents
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, with ability to manage models, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with consultant
  • Preferred: Education project experience, including familiarity with DSA standards and processes
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools such as Rhino and Enscape; strong CAD knowledge
  • Ability to manage drawing sets independently and ask clarifying questions when needed
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with staff, consultants, and agencies
  • Understanding of building codes, construction terminology, and deliverables for all phases
  • Ability to delegate respectfully and provide direction to junior staff
  • Architectural license is a bonus, but not required

The salary range for this position is $65,591 - $95,254.

The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate’s qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
