Job Summary

The Designer II supports the design and development of architectural projects by producing high-quality design presentations, construction documents, and technical project materials. This role collaborates closely with project teams throughout all project phases, contributing to design documentation, Revit modeling, coordination with consultants, and construction administration tasks. The Designer II applies foundational knowledge of building systems and codes while bringing strong technical skills, professionalism, and attention to detail to every project.

This position is located in Seattle, Washington and will support Bassetti Architects, a design studio of HMC Architects. The position requires 3 days in the office and the ability to work from home Mondays and Fridays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the documentation of project designs, including 3D Revit models, physical models, and material or product research.
  • Support the preparation of interviews, proposals, and design presentations.
  • Contribute to the development of project documents across all project phases.
  • Assist with all aspects of the plan check process.
  • Support construction administration by reviewing submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and drafting instruction bulletins for changes.
  • Coordinate with team members and consultants to resolve conflicts or discrepancies.
  • Participate in firmwide professional development activities and design charettes.
  • Organize and generate working drawings and prepare complex plans, elevations, and details with supervisory guidance.
  • Apply building code concepts such as accessibility, occupant loads, exits, fire-rated assemblies, ramps, stairs, and handrails.
  • Estimate hours for assigned tasks and complete work within agreed-upon budgeted hours.
  • Maintain professionalism and effective communication with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Architectural degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 3 years of Revit experience producing architectural drawings.
  • Strong understanding of basic construction systems (walls, roofs, doors, windows).
  • Advanced Revit proficiency, including editing commands, project setup, file management, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of drawing setup, layers, plotting/publishing, dimensions, blocks, attributes, file maintenance, and viewports.
  • Familiarity with architectural and construction terminology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; asks clarifying questions when needed.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and work efficiently.
  • Working knowledge of firm equipment, software, and documentation systems.
  • Ability to keep supervisors updated and coordinate with architects, consultants, vendors, and support staff.
  • Professional, respectful interaction with clients and team members.
  • Motivated to take on new responsibilities and challenges.

The salary range for this position is $25.41 - $35.73.

The actual offered salary for this position will vary depending on multiple factors including the candidate’s qualification, education, position knowledge, work experience, skills, ability, work location, and internal incumbent compensation for similar roles. We do not anticipate individuals hired into this position will start at or near the top half of the range listed; the decision will be based on each individual case. The salary range listed above does not include other compensation elements such as discretionary bonus opportunities, employee stock ownership grants, paid time off, medical insurance, and other wage and benefit opportunities.
